    It often happens that we hear about “oxidative stress”, But what is it really about and what are its causes and consequences?

    In this article, we will try to better understand what oxidative stress means and what it has to do with free radicals, to shed light on this crucial health topic.

    What is Oxidative Stress?

    With the term “oxidative stress” generally refers to an imbalance between the processes of production and neutralization of free radicals within the body.

    The symptoms of oxidative stress can be varied and often nonspecific, making them difficult to easily recognize.

    By attacking lipids, free radicals can in fact trigger a chain reaction capable of compromising the integrity of cell membranes. 

    This process is commonly linked to a variety of medical conditions, including heart disease. 

    Maintaining a balance between free radicals and antioxidants is therefore also crucial for preventing lipid peroxidation and preserving cellular health.

    In conclusion, oxidative stress represents a challenge that our body faces daily and which is caused by both internal and external factors. 

    Understanding the concept of oxidative stress, recognizing its possible causes, and adopting healthy lifestyle habits can therefore mitigate the potential damage inevitably caused by free radicals.
